Isle Of Wight College Confirms Another Case Of Coronavirus

The Isle of Wight College has become the third educational setting on the Island to have confirmed a case of coronavirus in as many days.

Nine students and two staff members from the Newport site are self-isolating at home.

The Isle of Wight Council said a member of the college tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday (13). A spokesperson said:

"Families and staff have all been informed. Nine students and two members of staff have been asked to remain at home, self-isolating, as a precautionary measure, and high-quality remote learning will be provided for the children throughout this time.

“The college remains open for all other staff and students.”

As Isle of Wight Radio reported earlier, Christ the King College had told 24 students to remain home. It came after the school confirmed a new case of coronavirus - its fourth altogether.

Yesterday (Sunday), parents at Lanesend Primary were also informed of a positive case.

Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 22 schools/colleges/sixth forms on the Island have had at least one case of COVID-19.

Isle of Wight Radio has put together an interactive map showing which schools have been affected...
