Isle Of Wight Coastal Towns Could Benefit From £56m Funding Pot

Isle of Wight

Coastal towns on the Isle of Wight could benefit from a pot of £56 million of funding - announced today (Saturday).

The Island has 9 coastal towns, which could benefit from the money - which will be available to all coastal towns in England to help them reopen after the lockdown.

The money can be used to remove graffiti, improve green spaces and buy outdoor seating for drinking and dining.

It was announced by the Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick this morning (Saturday).

He said the money will "spruce up" high streets and help councils welcome visitors back safely.

But Labour has criticised the move, saying it is "not enough".
