Heatwave Level 5 Alert For The Isle Of Wight

(c) IW Met Service

A Heatwave Level 5 Alert has been issued for the Isle of Wight today (Friday).

Temperatures are expected to reach - and maybe top - 32.c.

The peak of the heat is expected at around 3pm.

People are reminded to stay safe, while also looking after pets - and not leaving dogs in cars.

Speaking about the Level 5 Heatwave, the IW Met Service said:

"It is very rare to see temperatures this high on the Island, but during the hottest spells of some summers it can occasionally happen.

"Avoid spending too much time outside in direct sunlight as the risk of heat stroke is significant. Spending time in the shade is highly recommended although it won't provide much relief as even here the heat will be felt.

"Some people have a good tolerance for hot weather although most people do start to find it difficult once the temperatures reaches 30’c or higher."
