Fundraising Event Raises Thousands For Good Causes

A well-supported fundraising event at Parkside Pavilion in East Cowes has so far seen around £2,500 raised for support groups.

Hairdresser and carer, Marie Clement, was diagnosed with breast cancer before Christmas, with the prospect of losing her hair hitting hard.

Three of her friends, Julie, Jane and Kevin, decided they would support her by getting their heads shaved in a show of solidarity.

Marie decided she would like the bulk of funds raised to go to the Community Spirited Café in East Cowes, with the Applegate Breast Cancer Support Group also receiving a donation.

Marie said:

"If I can inspire and encourage anyone going through the same thing to keep fighting then I've achieved something positive out of something rubbish."
