Former Award Winning Gurnard Restaurant Could Become Hotel

Changes have been proposed for a once-popular and award winning restaurant in Gurnard.

A planning application has been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council to change part of The Little Gloster restaurant and the accommodation above into hotel rooms, following its closure in September last year.

Owners Ben and Holly Cooke announced in June last year the restaurant and rooms, on Marsh Road, would close.

The award-winning family run business based in Gurnard had been going for ten years before it made the ‘hard decision’ to close.

In a statement released at the time, Ben and Holly said:

“We’re brimming with ideas, and an opportunity that makes our hearts flutter and excites us could be just around the corner.

“When the right one comes along we will know, and we will pour everything we have into it, just as we have done in beautiful Gurnard.”

No information has been submitted to say who has submitted the planning application.

The ground floor is to stay as a restaurant.

Drawings submitted by planning agents, Knight Architectural Design, in January, show the space above would be transformed to include a living area, kitchen, study and four bedrooms with bathrooms.

Comments on the application can be submitted until March 12.
