Emergency Services At Whale Chine Near Chale

Emergency services are at Whale Chine this morning (Friday).

Police, paramedics and coastguard teams are in attendance near Chale.

Isle of Wight Radio understands emergency services are assisting with an incident near the cliff edge.

Two coastguard helicopters are also in the area.

UPDATED 12.05:

Listeners report that a multi-agency response is currently on scene at the edge of the cliff near to Whale Chine car park. 

Crews from the police, ambulance service, and Coastguard are all working to rescue the casualty, and cliff rescue apparatus are in use.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said:

'Just before 10.15am today (18 September) HM Coastguard was asked to assist the Isle of Wight ambulance service with a report of an incident at Whale Chine. A senior coastal operations officer and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and the Needles have been sent together with the search and rescue helicopter from Lee-on-Solent and a helimed.

'The incident is ongoing.'
