Eight New Coronavirus Cases Recorded On Isle Of Wight

Another eight cases of coronavirus have been recorded on the Isle of Wight.

It takes the overall number here, since the pandemic began, to 484.

Seven cases have been registered this month, according to Public Health England.

Two cases were recorded on Sunday (4), two on Saturday (3), two last Friday (2) and one last Thursday (1).

The additional case was added to a date in September.

A delay in recording the number of cases could be down to a data glitch over the weekend.

Downing Street said that as of 9.30am this morning, only 63% of positive cases had been contacted by Test and Trace.

There have been no deaths on the Island since September 1.

The Isle of Wight Council is advising us to follow the government guidelines: hands, face, space.

  • Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Wear a face-covering where appropriate.
  • Keep space from other people; 2 metres or at least 1 metre apart.

If you or someone you know, displays any symptoms, no matter how mild, the council is urging you to get a free test by calling 119 or visiting NHS.uk

The council has also produced a self-isolation toolkit to help people prepare to self-isolate if they need to.
