Coronavirus: More Deaths In Isle Of Wight Care Homes

Two more people have died in care homes on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published its weekly data this morning (Tuesday).

One of the deaths came In an Island residential home in the week ending February 26.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 126 deaths in the community here.

113 of those have come in care homes and nine at home.

Since the pandemic began there has been one COVID-19 related death at the Island's hospice, one in a 'other communal setting' and two 'elsewhere' in the community.

In total, 268 people have now died on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for the illness. St Mary's Hospital has recorded 142 of those deaths.

Yesterday (Monday), the Isle of Wight saw its rolling case rate drop to the third lowest in the UK.
