Coronation Street — Queen's Jubilee Celebrations Set For Newport

The line-up for tomorrow's (Saturday's) Newport Jubilee celebration has been confirmed.

To celebrate 70 years of the Queen’s reign, an event will take place in Newport High Street to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.

An exciting and eclectic line-up includes both tribute acts and original music from Platform One music college students.

David Pontin, director of Platform One Music College, said:

"It is a privilege to be involved with this event.  We have programmed a diverse range of music to appeal to all.

"We are always so proud of our students."

The event is free for all to attend and will be part of a series of activities in Newport town centre which aims to bring joy to the community with a celebratory event for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

In addition to the music, there will be a host of family activities and market stalls on the day.

Festivities will finish with the Grand Parade from Victoria Recreation Ground at 3pm, making its way down to Newport Quay.

The event is managed by Shaping Newport, and supported by Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, Market Days CIC, Newport Business Association, Isle of Wight Council, Newport High Street Heritage Action Zone, Platform One and the National Lottery Community Fund.
