Three Children Rescued From The Water Near Ryde Harbour

Crews from Gosport Lifeboat, along with local Coastguard crews, are in attendance at a scene in Ryde this afternoon (Sunday).

It’s understood that three children have been recovered from the water in the vicinity of Ryde Harbour and are being assessed by the Ambulance Service.

All three casualties have been conveyed to St Mary’s hospital as a precaution.

UPDATED 13.45:

A HM Coastguard spokesperson told Isle of Wight Radio:

“HM Coastguard received a 999 call just before 12:25 this afternoon, after a 10 year old boy fell into the water at Ryde Harbour and two of his friends enter the water after him.

Needles and Ventnor Coastguard rescue teams, Gosport and Ryde independent lifeboats and Isle of Wight Ambulance were all sent.

Two of the boys self-recovered the other was rescued by the Ryde Harbour Master who was able to throw the boy a life ring and bring him to shore.”
