Chance Of More Heavy Rain And Thunderstorms For The Isle Of Wight

There is a chance of more heavy rain and even thunderstorms on the Isle of Wight today (Monday).

A Met Office Yellow Weather Warning has been issued - to include the Island - until 11pm tonight.

Some areas of Ryde, Brading and Sandown have experienced flooding today after heavy rainfall overnight into this morning.

A Flood Alert has been issued at Monktonmead Brook in Ryde.

There is also flooding on the main Whitwell to Ventnor road.

The Met Office said:

"Heavy showers already affecting the south and east of the Isle of Wight will become more widespread across the warning area through the afternoon, with some thunderstorms also developing.

"These may be quite slow-moving and last for an hour or two.

"Some torrential downpours are possible with a few places seeing 50 mm of rain or more within a few hours.

"Lightning and hail are also additional hazards."
