18M High Wind Turbine Application In For Godshill

Council Planners have received a planning application for the wind turbine at Knightsbridge Farms.

The application has been made by farm owners who say the proposed wind turbine is required to help reduce the need and cost of energy required from the national grid for the day to day running of the farm business.

The Isle of Wight Council’s declaration of a climate emergency in April 2019 encouraging green energy.

The wind turbine is part of a farm diversification scheme aimed at responding proactively to the current energy crisis and will be used for the farm business alone on a private site.

The applicant said:

"Whilst it is self-evident that the erection of a wind turbine on the site must have some effect on its surroundings it is contended the character of the area will remain unchanged, and the impact of the turbine’s appearance will be limited."

At times when electricity is not required on the property surplus energy will be exported to the local grid and farm owners say they will do their best to make sure the turbine has as little impact as possible on everyone else's enjoyment of the area.
