Yarmouth Road Reopens After Police And Ambulance Response

A key road into Yarmouth has reopened following a police and ambulance response to an incident in the town.

Tennyson Road was closed in both directions on Sunday afternoon while emergency services dealt with the situation.

Police and paramedics were called to the area at around 2.30pm yesterday.

Four units from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary attended, including an armed response vehicle.

A police cordon was put in place further along Tennyson Road towards the town centre, beyond Yarmouth Cemetery, while the main carriageway was closed from the Thorley Road junction.

The nature of the incident has not been confirmed.

The road closure also affected local bus services, with Southern Vectis diverting its Route 7 and Needles Breezer services away from their usual route through Yarmouth.

Tennyson Road was reopened in both directions at around 5.25pm.

Southern Vectis subsequently confirmed that both services had returned to their normal timetabled routes through the town.
