Yarmouth has been full of festive sparkle this December, as local shops and businesses once again dressed their windows with eye-catching Christmas displays.

The annual competition, organised by the Yarmouth Traders Retail Collective and led by Adrian Evans, added extra magic to the town’s seasonal celebrations.

Wightlink returned as sponsor, providing travel vouchers as prizes for the winning businesses.

With visitors flocking to the town in the run-up to Christmas, the decorated shopfronts helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere across one of the Isle of Wight’s most picturesque locations.

Judging for this year’s competition saw Wightlink’s Partnerships Marketing Manager, Sam Woodman, visit independent shops and hospitality venues to photograph the displays.

Winners were then chosen by a wider team of Wightlink staff based at Gunwharf, who praised the creativity and festive spirit on show.

Holdings took first place for its standout display, followed by The Wheatsheaf Inn in second.

Harwood’s, Reflections and Blossoms shared joint third place.

All winning businesses received Wightlink travel vouchers in recognition of their efforts.

Sam Woodman said:

“It was wonderful to see the town throw itself into the competition with such enthusiasm.
"The shops and pubs looked fantastic and are well worth a visit at their festive best.”

Organiser Adrian Evans thanked Wightlink for its continued support, saying the decorated windows had helped make Yarmouth feel especially festive this Christmas.

The competition continues to celebrate Yarmouth’s independent businesses and gives visitors even more reason to make the trip across the Solent.
