Woman Held After Police Investigation In Newport

A 56-year-old woman remains in police custody after officers arrested her in Newport yesterday (Thursday) on suspicion of drug supply offences and breaching court bail conditions.

Police were called to Nelson Road shortly before 2pm, following reports that a woman was verbally abusing a man.

Following enquiries at the scene, officers arrested the woman on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, as well as breaching court bail.

As the investigation continued, officers were seen carrying evidence bags from a nearby residential property throughout the afternoon.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the 56-year-old remains in custody while enquiries continue.
