A man wanted by police in connection with an assault investigation has been arrested following a public appeal on the Isle of Wight.

Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary launched an urgent search for 28-year-old Kevin Ouvry on Sunday after he was reported wanted in connection with allegations of assault, criminal damage and breach of a restraining order.

Police said Ouvry, from the Monks Lane area of Freshwater, had last been seen in the village at around 11:50am on Friday.

He was described as being around 6ft tall with a medium build and hair in a small braid.

At the time, he was believed to be wearing a grey and navy hoodie, a Nike jacket, black tracksuit bottoms, white socks and black sliders.

Officers urged members of the public not to approach him if seen, instead asking anyone with information to contact police immediately.

In an update issued later on Sunday afternoon, police confirmed Ouvry had been located and taken into custody.

The force also thanked members of the public who shared the appeal and provided information during the search.
