Vectis RFC’s Under-12s produced a determined and resilient performance against a physical New Milton side, despite narrowly losing 3–2 in their primary match.

The coaching team praised the squad for a significant improvement on the previous week’s performance, with tries from Juke and George keeping the contest close.

However, it was the defensive effort that stood out most, as the young Vectis side held a disciplined line and showed real tenacity throughout the game.

That resilience was tested further when the squad was reduced by two mid-match injuries, but the players continued to defend strongly and support one another.

The same grit carried into the subsequent small-sided training games, which saw a high scoring rate and several standout individual performances from the Vectis players.

The club also paid tribute to Sam Laidler Photography, with Sam not only helping to coach the U12s but also capturing a number of impressive action shots from the day.

Off the pitch, Vectis RFC is inviting the local community to get involved at a Volunteer and Coaches Information Day.

The event will take place at Network Ryde on Saturday, 7 February, from 10am to 12pm.

The open invitation is aimed at anyone who loves the game or wants to give back to the community, including experienced coaches, former players, and parents with no prior rugby experience.

The relaxed, no-pressure session will offer information on coaching roles and the wide range of volunteer positions that help keep the club running.

Attendees will also have the chance to meet members of the Vectis committee and hear more about how the club supports young people aged 5 to 18 in developing confidence, teamwork and athletic skills.

Training and ongoing support are provided for all volunteers, and refreshments will be available on the day.

Those interested are encouraged to contact the club via social media or simply turn up on the morning to find out more.
