After a long winter break caused by frozen pitches, Vectis Rugby Football Club has returned to action, with squads from U6s to U18s resuming training ahead of the 2026 season.

Colts in the Mud

The Vectis Colts faced a tough away day at Petersfield, losing 33-12 in challenging, rainy conditions.

Despite the defeat, standout performances included Jack Coates and Player of the Match George Cowell, with John Waghorn crossing for two tries, one converted by Preston Williams.

U13s vs Havant RFC

The Vectis U13s hosted Havant at Sandown & Shanklin RFC. Although the youngsters were beaten 9-1, they showed resilience in tough conditions, with Edward Foster scoring Vectis’ try and earning Player of the Match.

Several determined goal-line stands prevented the scoreline from being heavier, highlighting the team’s commitment and defensive effort.

Honouring Tristan “Beast” Price

Vectis RFC joined Hampshire clubs in paying tribute to the late Ventnor legend Tristan Price. In a gesture of respect, the club retired the Number 1 jersey across all age groups for matches on January 11 and encouraged support for the GoFundMe campaign assisting his family.

Celebrating Leadership

The club also marked the birthday of Honorary Chairman Allan Bridges, praised for his dedication to youth rugby and contributions across the island’s three senior clubs.

Join the Vectis Family

Vectis RFC welcomes new players for 2026, offering free sessions for first-time participants.

The club provides rugby opportunities for young people aged 5–18, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
