Two temporary road closures are set to come into force in Newport as part of essential highway works.

Carisbrooke Road will be closed from its junction with Trafalgar Road for around 130 metres in a north easterly direction.

The closure will begin at 10.30am on Monday (8 June) and is expected to remain in place for up to five days, or until works are completed, whichever is sooner.

A signed diversion route will be in operation, directing traffic via High Street, Priory Road, Gunville Road, Forest Road, Parkhurst Road, Medina Way, Riverway, Coppins Bridge, Snooks Hill, St George’s Way, East Street, South Street, Church Litten, St James Street and Pyle Street.

Meanwhile, Linden Road will also be closed from its junction with Nelson Road for approximately 21 metres, with works due to start at 9.04am on the same day.

Diversions for Linden Road will take traffic via Nelson Road and Winston Road.

Both closures are being implemented by Ringway Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to allow works to be carried out safely.

Access to nearby properties will be maintained where possible, and all diversion routes will be clearly signposted during the closures.
