Two Teenagers Sentenced For Violent Offences On Isle Of Wight

Two young men have been sentenced for violent offences on the Isle of Wight, including serious assaults and a robbery.
Max O’Neill, 18, of Ryde, was jailed for 16 months at Portsmouth Crown Court on 9 October, while 19-year-old Noah Critchley, of Sandown, received 14 months.
Both were sentenced to young offenders institutions but have been released on licence after time spent on remand.
O’Neill admitted two counts of causing grievous bodily harm without intent following separate attacks on dog walkers in Binstead and Ryde, leaving one with a fractured leg and the other with a fractured jaw and bleeding on the brain.
He and Critchley also admitted robbing a man in Newport in September 2025, threatening to stab him before stealing his skateboard, rucksack and laptop.
O’Neill was additionally sentenced at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday for an offence involving a badger.
He was given a four-month suspended sentence, banned from keeping dogs for three years and ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.
He also received a five-year restraining order relating to a teenage girl following an offence of controlling and coercive behaviour.
Police said the cases involved serious violence which caused significant harm to members of the public.
