Two Arrested After Attempted Break-In And Knife Report In East Cowes

Two men have been arrested following an alleged attempted break-in at a property in East Cowes, during which one of those involved was reportedly carrying a knife.


Police were called to York Avenue shortly before 11am on Saturday after receiving reports that three men were attempting to force entry to a residential address.


Officers responded rapidly to the incident amid concerns that a weapon had been seen during the disturbance.


No injuries were reported, but an investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.


A 55-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.


A 24-year-old man from Cowes has also been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and criminal damage.


Both men remain in police custody while enquiries continue.


Police are continuing efforts to locate a third individual believed to be connected to the incident.
