Sandown’s Pier Street Toilets, closed for several years and currently opening only temporarily in the summer, may be taken over by the Town Council for redevelopment as a public amenity.

The move comes after the Isle of Wight Council’s previous regeneration plan did not go ahead, and forms part of broader efforts to support Sandown’s seafront revitalisation.

Pier Street Toilets are located in one of the town’s busiest tourist areas and are considered an important facility for visitors and beachgoers.

The Town Council is now considering taking responsibility for the site to ensure permanent public access.

The proposal will be discussed at an Extra-Ordinary Meeting of the Town Council on Monday 27 October 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Broadway Centre.
