Three Prison Officers Injured In Stabbing Incident At HMP Isle Of Wight

Police have launched an investigation after three prison officers were injured during a stabbing incident at HMP Isle of Wight on Thursday.
The attack is understood to have taken place inside the Inpatient Unit at the Albany site in Newport, where a prisoner allegedly used an improvised weapon, commonly known as a shiv, to assault staff.
Two officers were taken to St Mary’s Hospital for urgent treatment.
A 32-year-old man suffered facial injuries, while a 28-year-old man sustained injuries to his right arm.
A third officer received minor injuries.
Both hospitalised officers have since been discharged.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed they have received reports of a serious assault and are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
Police investigations are ongoing.
