St John Ambulance is marking National Volunteers’ Week by paying tribute to thousands of volunteers who support communities across the UK.
The organisation says volunteers play a vital role in delivering first aid at public events, responding to emergencies, supporting training, and helping behind the scenes with administration and fundraising.
It says its volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, with each contributing to improving community resilience and helping more people gain lifesaving skills.
St John Ambulance is also encouraging new volunteers to get involved, with roles available including Emergency Responders, Community First Aiders, Youth Leaders, Trainers and support volunteers.
The charity says those who join now will also be part of preparations ahead of its 150th anniversary next year.
For those unable to volunteer, it says donations remain important in helping to train teams and expand access to lifesaving support.
