A keep-fit group for women over the age of 50 is celebrating a decade of success since its inception in 2015.

Spring Chicks of Binstead began as a once-a-week keep-fit class lead by retired dancer Alice Blue.

Alice said:

"Spring Chicks is not, and was never intended to be, a business; it is a community group that pays its way, and it has grown so much that we now have three exercise classes and four ballet classes a week.
"We’ve got 52 members, all in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, many of whom come twice a week, and there’s no chair exercises for us, we get up and move!
"To still be going strong after ten years is something I am extremely proud of.
"I would never have imagined that Spring Chicks would evolve into so much more than an exercise group, and it is now so very much more than that: friendships have burgeoned and we have supported each other through good times and bad."
