Voters in Totland and Colwell have six candidates to choose from in the Isle of Wight Council elections on May 7.

Current councillor Chris Jarman, leader of the Empowering Islanders group, is seeking re-election after representing the ward since 2021.

He faces challengers Michelle Abbott (Conservative), Tom Bignell (Reform UK), Eric James Gray (Liberal Democrat), John Hoath (Green Party) and Paul Geraint Pugh (Labour).

Some candidates did not provide statements.

Tom Bignell says he wants greater transparency in how public money is spent and promises to be accessible to residents.

Green Party candidate John Hoath says he wants to improve infrastructure, protect the environment and ensure public money delivers value.

Chris Jarman says he will continue to be an independent voice, highlighting his work on local issues including healthcare, green spaces and housing.

Labour’s Paul Pugh, a Royal Navy veteran and nurse, says he wants to tackle anti-social behaviour, increase community policing and hold water companies to account.
