Six candidates are standing in Sandown South in the Isle of Wight Council elections on May 7, challenging Conservative incumbent Ian Ward.
Voters can choose between Mr Ward and Frank Baldry (Reform UK), Emily Brothers (Labour), Christie Greenaway (Green Party) and independent candidate Paddy Lightfoot.
Frank Baldry says Sandown has been “taken for granted” and wants to focus on regenerating the high street and protecting the coastline.
Labour candidate Emily Brothers, a former town councillor, says she wants to tackle derelict buildings and work with partners across the Bay to improve living standards and opportunities.
Green candidate Christie Greenaway says she wants to protect the coastline, support small businesses and improve transparency in local government.
Independent Paddy Lightfoot says Sandown needs a stronger voice at County Hall, with a focus on jobs, housing and tackling council finances.
Ian Ward says he wants to continue working on the economic regeneration of Sandown, drawing on his experience as both a former council leader and mayor, and his long personal connection to the town.
