Scouts UK is recruiting a new County Lead Volunteer for Isle of Wight Scouts.

Current Lead Volunteer Dave Simpson will step down in July 2026 after seven years in the role.

The County Lead Volunteer is a senior leadership position responsible for supporting and motivating the Island’s adult volunteers.

The role can be shared between two people, and applications close on 27 April.

More information and the application form are available here. Members of the public can also nominate candidates for the role.

The Lead Volunteer guides local Scout Groups, Explorer Scout Units, and specialist teams, including Corf Scout Campsite.

Volunteers receive encouragement and support to ensure Scouting on the Island runs smoothly and continues to inspire young people.

Former Lead Volunteer Paul Savill described the role as “a real privilege,” praising the opportunity to see young people grow and achieve.

Dave Simpson added that the position is both challenging and rewarding, overseeing 400 volunteers and helping young people gain skills for life.

This role offers a unique chance to lead and inspire the next generation of Scouts on the Isle of Wight.
