RSPCA Isle of Wight is working alongside local food banks to ensure pets don’t go hungry during times of financial hardship.

Thanks to donations from supporters and a grant from the national RSPCA, the branch is helping hundreds of households across the Island keep their cats and dogs fed and cared for.

In partnership with the Isle of Wight Foodbank, Ventnor Community Pantry, and Baby Box, the initiative provides vital pet food supplies, helping families keep their beloved pets at home instead of surrendering them to rescue centres.

Veronica Chrisp, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at RSPCA IOW, said:

“Times are hard for so many people, and when budgets are stretched, pet food can sadly become a real worry.
"Pets are family, and the comfort and companionship they bring is more important than ever.
"By working with local food banks, we can make sure owners don’t have to face the heartbreaking choice between feeding themselves and feeding their pets.”

Isle of Wight Foodbank Manager Kay Lewis added:

“We are so grateful for the support and generous donations from the RSPCA and their donors. Pets are integral to people’s wellbeing and are an important part of the family.”

Last year, the RSPCA Isle of Wight donated thousands of meals for Island pets.

The branch is encouraging the public to continue donating unopened pet food, which can be dropped off at the RSPCA Animal Centre in Godshill.
