A Reform UK Isle of Wight councillor has joined forces with an independent to create a new political group at County Hall.
Central Rural representative Caroline Gladwin, who was elected at a by-election in May, has formed the ‘ABC Group’ with Nettlestone and Seaview councillor David Adams.
The ABC Group is the fifth largest group at the Isle of Wight Council after the Conservatives (13), Alliance (12), Liberal Democrats (four) and Empowering Islanders (three).
Cllr Gladwin is the new group’s leader and confirmed yesterday that she was still a councillor for Reform UK and a member of the party.
She said: “Committee seats are allocated to groups and Cllr Adams and I thought it was important to form a group to access appropriate seats to best represent our residents and our wards.”
Cllr Adams declined to comment on the matter.
