Red Funnel Vehicle Sailings Move To Temporary Southampton Berth

The vehicle service operated by Red Funnel will temporarily sail from Berth 25 in Southampton for five days while maintenance work takes place.

From 00:01 on Thursday 19 March until 23:59 on Monday 23 March, crossings will depart from the temporary berth — located around five minutes by car from Terminal 1.

The change will allow essential work to be carried out on one of the port’s mooring dolphins, which help keep vessels securely alongside while passengers and vehicles board and disembark.

Specialist underwater dive teams will be involved, meaning the usual berth must remain clear of vessels.

Operations Director Neil Chapman says the work is part of ongoing investment to keep services running safely and reliably.

Dedicated signage will guide drivers to the temporary berth, while transport will be provided for foot passengers between Terminal 1 and Berth 25.

Customers with bookings are being contacted with further guidance.
