A well-loved Isle of Wight pub is set to be put up for sale, with the team behind The Bugle Inn confirming the news in a heartfelt message to customers.
In a statement shared on social media, owners Jasmine and Daniel Ashley-Walker said the decision comes as they look ahead to a new chapter in their lives, with their children now grown up.
They have stressed there are currently no expectations for the pub to close, and that it will continue to operate as normal for the foreseeable future while the lease is marketed through Scotcher & Co.
The pair said they have “absolutely loved” their time running the Brading venue over the past five years, adding that they will be “very sad to say goodbye” to both staff and customers.
Once a buyer is found, the process is expected to take several months, meaning the current team will remain in place in the short term.
The announcement has prompted an outpouring of support from regulars and members of the local community, many of whom have praised the welcoming atmosphere created at the pub.
One customer said the venue had become their “preferred local”, highlighting the friendliness of staff and personal service that “will be hard to replicate”.
Another described the news as “a big blow for Brading”, pointing to the pub’s popular food nights, live music and community atmosphere.
Others have spoken of family memories made at the pub, with one regular calling it “a wonderful place” and saying whoever takes over will have “a great starting point”.
Several also expressed hopes that any new owners will maintain the current format as a family-friendly, community-focused venue.
The Bugle Inn has built a strong reputation in recent years for its food, events and relaxed setting, making it a central hub for both residents and visitors to Brading.
Customers have been encouraged to speak directly with the team if they have any questions, with Jasmine and Daniel saying they are looking forward to continuing to serve the community over the coming months.
