Police Seal Off Part Of Ryde Esplanade After Serious Overnight Assault

Part of Ryde’s Esplanade has been cordoned off this morning (Friday) following a serious assault in the early hours.

Emergency services were called to outside Jhoots Pharmacy shortly before 12.30am.

A man was found lying on the ground with serious injuries, alongside a small pool of blood and the remains of a late-night takeaway.

He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

Police have sealed off the pavement between Dover Street and George Street while investigations continue, and access to Jhoots Pharmacy is likely to be restricted today.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for comment.
