Police Investigating Following Reports Of Sexual Assault At Island Event

Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault which is alleged to have taken place at the Sausage and Cider Festival on 19 July.

This is following a report that a woman in her 20s was inappropriately touched and forced to take cocaine.

A 52-year-old woman from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower to allow sexual activity.

A 45-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, supplying Class A drugs, and administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower to allow sexual activity.

They have both been released on bail until 24 October while further enquiries continue.
