Last night saw Island roads answer more than 50 calls relating to flash flooding.
These included reports of standing water, debris in the road and manhole and drain covers being lifted off due to the volume of water in the drainage system.
Â
Sandbag stores in East Cowes, Cowes and Ryde had all been opened the previous day given the forecast of heavy rain.
A spokesperson for Island Roads has issued an update this afternoon (Friday), stating:
"Since last night we have been removing a large amount of debris from the highway.
"Much of this is stones washed onto the network from unmade roads and gravel paths.
"Most of this clearance work, which is ongoing, has been in Cowes and East Cowes."
