Police Investigate Indecent Incident At Newport Churchyard

Police have launched an investigation after a couple were reportedly caught engaging in sexual activity in a Newport graveyard.

It was just before 8pm last night (Friday) that a member of the public came across a man and a woman allegedly involved in an act of indecent exposure at St Paul’s Church, off Staplers Road.

The concerned individual is said to have challenged the pair, describing their behaviour as disrespectful.

It’s reported that the couple then became verbally abusive, prompting the witness to contact Police via 101.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that enquiries are underway following the incident, which is believed to have taken place behind a stone wall within the grounds of St Paul’s Church.

Efforts are ongoing to identify those involved.
