Plans To Turn Former Ryde Hotel Into Accommodation Backed

Plans to turn a prominent empty building in Ryde into a new ten-bedroom hotel have received conditional backing from the town council.
Ryde Town Council supports proposals to convert the former Terminus Hotel on St Johns Road into visitor accommodation, with a lounge and dining area.
The building has fallen into disrepair and was previously converted into two maisonettes.
Councillors say bringing the property back into use would outweigh concerns previously raised by the Environment Agency over flood risk.
The council has no objection to the plans, subject to a contribution to the Solent Special Protection Area and suitable arrangements for waste storage and management.
The Isle of Wight Council's public consultation ended on October 2, with a decision expected by October 20.
