Police have confirmed that two men arrested following an incident on Sandown Road have been released without charge and will face no further action.

Officers were called at 6.34pm on Friday 11 July to reports of an incident involving two vehicles on Sandown Road, between Bembridge and Yaverland.

It was initially reported that there had been an altercation between the occupants of the vehicles.

As part of enquiries, police attended Arundel Close and arrested a 34-year-old man from Ryde and a 26-year-old man from Bembridge on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Both men were released on bail while investigations continued, with bail later extended to 11 January 2026.

At the time, police said a firearm was believed to have been involved, although no firearm was located, and there was no wider risk to the public.

Following further investigation, police have now confirmed that both men have been released from bail without charge, and no further action will be taken in connection with the incident.
