Newport Man Set For Portsmouth Magistrates Date Today Following Spiked Weapon Seizure

A man from Newport will face Portsmouth Magistrates Court today (Monday) after a police stop saw him found with a dangerous weapon in his vehicle.


Police stopped a silver Mercedes CLK on the A3020 in Newport at about 10.30pm on Saturday (June 14) after suspecting the driver of being impaired.


A black handled item with spikes sticking out of it was seized from the car.

 

Anthony Harris, 57, of Barton Road, Newport has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.


He will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today (Monday).
