Driver Located After Cyclist Hit In Ryde

Police have located the driver of a car which was involved in a collision with a cyclist near Ryde.

The incident happened shortly before 11.40am on Sunday (September 20) at the junction of Green Lane and Ashey Road.

A red Renault Clio was travelling away from Ryde towards Brading when it collided with a male cyclist.

The cyclist, who is in his 60s and is understood to have been visiting the Isle of Wight for the weekend, was knocked from his bike.

The car did not stop at the scene and continued towards Brading.

Emergency services attended, with the cyclist taken to St Mary's Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

His injuries are understood to have been minor.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has since confirmed that the driver, believed to be a woman, was located a short time after the collision.

She has spoken to officers while enquiries into the circumstances of the incident continue.
