New Police Dogs Boost Drug Detection Across Isle Of Wight And Hampshire

Two newly trained police dogs are joining the fight against illegal drugs across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.

Harry and Whitney have successfully completed specialist training as drugs detection dogs and are now operational, supporting frontline officers across the force area.

Although primarily based in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the pair are part of the Joint Operations Unit (JOU), meaning they can also be deployed across the wider region, including Thames Valley, when required.

Following an intensive training programme, Harry and Whitney will assist officers with vehicle stops, search warrants and community operations, helping to detect illegal drugs and disrupt criminal activity.

Inspector Andy Mooge said:

"Harry and Whitney have shown fantastic potential throughout their training.

"Their deployment will significantly enhance our ability to detect drugs and support operations across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

"Police dogs are an invaluable asset, and we are delighted to welcome them to the team."

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says the new recruits will play an important role in tackling drug-related crime and helping to keep communities safe across the two counties.
