Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s new CEO, Becky McGregor, will be swapping her office chair for a harness this weekend — soaring above Robin Hill as part of this year’s ZipFire challenge.
The event, taking place on Saturday 8 November, promises an explosive evening of entertainment, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the Island’s skies.
Becky will be among dozens of brave fundraisers who’ll ‘fly’ 300 metres across the night sky — 25 metres above the ground — as fire cannons blaze beneath them.
The event, sponsored by Reno Drain and supported by Isle of Wight Radio, raises vital funds for Mountbatten’s end-of-life care and bereavement services.
Becky said:
“Fireworks with Mountbatten has become a fantastic annual Isle of Wight event – great for all the family.
"We can’t wait to do it all again.
"Join us in the amazing surroundings of Robin Hill and expect a fun-filled evening of fireworks and entertainment, while supporting the vital and expert care delivered 24/7 by our staff and volunteers.”
A night of entertainment and fundraising
Even if you’re not daring enough to take on the zipline yourself, there’ll be plenty to enjoy throughout the afternoon and evening.
Expect live performances from The New Carnival Company, Raw Samba, and DJs — with the Isle of Wight Radio team taking to the stage to keep the energy high.
A variety of street food stalls will also be serving up delicious treats before the fireworks finale at 7pm.
Among the returning fundraisers is Helen Hirons, taking on ZipFire for the second year in a row.
“I am forever grateful to Mountbatten — not only for the care its team provided my late husband but also for their support for me, our son and other family members,” she said.
“Taking part in ZipFire is just a small way to help raise vital funds.”
