A brand-new skatepark in East Cowes is set to officially open this week, marking a major investment in facilities for local young people and the wider community.

The project — fully funded by East Cowes Town Council — has been designed and built by specialist contractors Betongpark Ltd, with support from local volunteers.

Following extensive public consultation, including input from local skaters, Wight Trash skate shop, and residents, the final design has been brought to life as a modern, inclusive space for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter users of all ages and abilities.

The new concrete skatepark features quarter pipes, banks, rails, ledges, kerbs, stairs and hubbas, offering a high-quality, contemporary replacement for the old metal park previously on the site.

The official opening will take place on Thursday 13 November at 12pm at East Cowes Skatepark, Vectis Road, with the Mayor, Councillor Tracy Reardon, cutting the ribbon.

Representatives from Betongpark, members of the Town Council, volunteers, and local skaters will also be in attendance.

East Cowes Town Council says the new facility reflects its commitment to creating modern, active, and inclusive spaces for the community and hopes it will become a vibrant hub for recreation and social connection.
