East Cowes has been buzzing with excitement this week, with the town's brand-new Skatepark officially opened to the public.
The launch event took place with pupils from Queensgate Foundation Primary joining in the celebrations alongside BMX riders, skateboarders and scooter enthusiasts showing off their skills.
Mayor of East Cowes, Cllr Tracy Reardon, cut the ribbon and thanked everyone who helped bring the long-awaited project to life.
She said:
“This skatepark is a fantastic addition to our community.
"It’s wonderful to see so many people here today enjoying the space.
"Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this dream a reality — especially the residents of East Cowes for their support and commitment.”
The project was delivered by East Cowes Town Council, with thanks to Betong Ltd, Ben Rutherford (Design and Project Lead), Theo (Construction Lead), Rob (Apprentice), John and Zoe, the East Cowes Skatepark Project Team, Crown Park and Hillcroft, Facilities Officer Andrew, and the many volunteers who helped make it happen.
Locals are being encouraged to visit, try out the new facilities, and share their photos and tricks online.
