New Banking Hub To Open In Ryde Next Month

A new banking hub offering face-to-face banking services is set to open in Ryde next month, providing access to essential financial services for residents and businesses.

The temporary hub, operated by the Post Office on behalf of Cash Access UK, will open at Ryde Town Council's offices in Lind Street on Tuesday 26th August.

Norfolk Stores has been awarded the contract to run the facility, which will offer everyday banking services including cash withdrawals, cash and cheque deposits, and change-giving for local businesses.

Speaking at Ryde Town Council's meeting this week, Mark Eldridge of Norfolk Stores said there is still strong demand for in-person banking despite the growth of online services.

He said the hub will include a private consultation room, where representatives from banks such as NatWest, Barclays and Lloyds will offer face-to-face appointments on a rotating basis, with each bank attending one day a week.

The banking hub will be open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.

Mr Eldridge said the service would also help people who have lost confidence in digital banking after falling victim to scams, while supporting cash-reliant businesses by providing easy access to cash and change.

The plans were welcomed by Ryde Town Council, with councillors describing the hub as a much-needed addition for the town.

A permanent location for the banking hub has not yet been confirmed, although Cash Access UK says it hopes to secure suitable premises in the near future.
