Names Of Pair Who Died In Alum Bay Incident Made Public

Police are now able to confirm the names of the two people that died in a vehicle at The Needles on the Isle of Wight on Friday 6 June.

They were Lyn King, aged 66, and John Paul King, aged 67, both from Cowes.

Officers were called at 7.21pm after a Ford Mondeo, which was being driven along Alum Bay New Road, left the road, came off the cliff top and came to rest in the water below. 

Two dogs, both Dachshund's, were also in the car and died in the incident.

John and Lyn King’s family members have stated:

“We are all devastated and numb from the loss, and would respect some privacy at this time”. 

Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and the matter has been passed to the Coroner’s office.
