Island Roads says its crews have been working around the clock following further heavy rainfall overnight, dealing with flooding and other issues across the Island’s road network.
A number of roads were closed overnight due to flooding, with traffic management arrangements remaining in place today.
The situation is being kept under review.
Road closures include:
Calthorpe Road, Ryde – flooding
Appleford Road, Chale – flooding
Harding Shute, Brading – flooding
Hollow Lane, Godshill – bank slippage
Further disruption is expected today, with Morton Common in Brading also affected by flooding.
In addition, flood boards have been deployed at several locations to help manage surface water and reduce the risk of property flooding.
These include:
Forest Road, Newport
Burnt House Lane, Newport
Arreton Road, Arreton
Station Road, Ningwood
Wellow Top Road, Shalfleet
Blackwater Shute, Arreton
Rolls Hill, Porchfield
Island Roads is continuing to monitor conditions closely as river levels remain high in some areas.
Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for journeys and avoid driving through floodwater.
