A new dog-walking facility could soon open on agricultural land at Cridmore Farm, located in the Isle of Wight National Landscape southeast of Rookley.
The proposal would see a field on the 870-acre farm converted into a secure, enclosed space for exercising or training dogs, with private bookings and disability-friendly access.
According to a planning statement from Dicksons Planning and Development, the facility is aimed at meeting local demand, particularly for owners of reactive or nervous dogs who cannot safely be let off the lead elsewhere.
The plans include fencing, a mobile field shelter, and two car parking spaces.
County Hall’s public consultation on the proposal (26/00126/FUL) runs until 21 April, with a decision expected by 3 May.
This would provide dog owners on the Island with a safe, rural space to let their pets enjoy some freedom while still being fully secure.
