The Mountbatten Group, which includes Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire, has been named UK Hospice of the Year and winner of the People’s Choice Award at the Charity Today Awards 2025.
The announcement was made at a gala lunch in Peterborough on Wednesday (15 October), where Mountbatten was recognised for its exceptional end-of-life care and dedication to supporting patients and families across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
The UK Hospice of the Year award celebrates hospices that show outstanding compassion, innovation, and excellence in end-of-life care — providing holistic, person-centred support during the most sensitive of times.
The People’s Choice Award, voted for by the public, highlights charities and individuals whose work has touched the hearts of communities across the UK. Mountbatten secured an incredible 82% of the public vote.
Becky McGregor, CEO of the Mountbatten Group, said:
“Every day, staff and volunteers at Mountbatten Hampshire and Mountbatten Isle of Wight strive to be bold — helping people live well for as long as possible and supporting their friends and family, 24/7.
"The People’s Choice Award recognises the vital part our hospices play in our communities, and we are so very grateful for your support. Thank you for voting for us!
"Being named UK Hospice of the Year is a wonderful accolade and one that all our past and present staff, volunteers and trustees have worked so hard to deserve.
"At the heart of everything we do are the people we care for and those close to them — we’ve accepted this award on their behalf.”
Mountbatten provides end-of-life care, bereavement support, and community services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, reaching thousands of people every year.
