A man has been charged with drink driving after a van crashed into a house in East Cowes during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to The Meadow, off Kingslea Park, just before 12.30am following reports a small van had collided with a terraced property.
Police attended and established that a man had been behind the wheel. Due to the nature of the incident, multiple emergency services were sent to the scene, including fire crews and ambulance teams.
Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, no injuries were reported and there was no damage caused to the property or the vehicle. A wheelie bin was the only item to sustain minor damage.
The van was able to be reversed away from the property without the need for recovery.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 39-year-old man from East Cowes was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.
He has since been charged with driving a motor vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit.
Frank Jones, of The Meadow, is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 22 May.
